Fun Assignment
Ask your class to “tweet their autobiography”. It’s much harder than it sounds, and requires critical thinking, editing skills and concentration to write an autobiography in 140 characters or less. Besides, it’s fun!

This is an interesting project. I teach Japanese, but they cannot tweet in Japanese (yet, at this point). I would have them do something similar but limit the # of characters to 140, just like twitter rule
There are some great ideas out there for teaching foreign language using Twitter or cell phones. I’ve attached a link with some ideas. The ability to tweet in Japanese isn’t available yet, but I’m sure it’s on the way; Twitter is adding languages fairly quickly. One idea is for you to post Japanese in your class and have the students text you the English translation. Lots more ideas on the attached link! Thanks for the comment.

Liz, thank you for posting that link. I think my students would absolutely love doing something like this. It would also be a great way to do a quick, universal comprehension check.
